Thanks everyone!!! I'm so proud of this photo! Splash is such a photogenic little guy, I just love him to pieces! I'll give him some extra treats tonight to celebrate his win!

Yipeeeeeeee laugh.gif Thanks so much guys heartpump.gif This is my fish Ephiphany who not so long ago went through an awful time with ich .... She bounced back well (thank goodness) She's grown a lot since I got her - and i've had her for just over a year now and when I got her, she was the size of my fingernail... I just told her she won and she looked at me as if to say "Where's dinner?"

Nov 14 - Nov 20

This is my redcap oranda, which I bought from Hung-Ming Pet Central in San Francisco China Town one month ago. He's about 5 1/2" long including the tail. I had problems with water parameters a few weeks ago, and he exploded with ich spots when I salted the aquarium. The winning picture of him was taken during the same shoot. That's why there are a lot white spots on his tail if you noticed. Despite the ich spots, I thought the picture was still good enough to submit for picture of the week. I wish I could remove the spots digitally. I weighed all of my fish on a food scale in a bowl of water. He was my heaviest fish at 80 grams and is now 84 grams two weeks later. Thanks for the award!

Nov 7 - Nov 13

here is some info about my prized bubble-eyes. I have a 50 gallon tank. 3 bubble-eyes (1 black, 1 gold, 1 calico) 9 white clouds I have had them for about 3 years now. Unfortunately, Bubble-eyes are very uncommon (if not rare) in Sydney. So I was very fortunate to find very healthy bubble-eyes.

Nov 1 - Nov 6

Wow! Thank you so much to all the guys that voted! It was quite a close voting laugh.gif . This is my red & white ranchu, not yet named biggrin.gif I'm real hopeless at naming. A bit small for his age, and only a fair representation of his breed, but he's definitely my favourite. He's currently outside in my outdoor greenwater tub in order to boost his growth & colouring. I'm looking forward very, very much to his development wink.gif Thx again guys

Oct 17 - oct 30

Thanks guys for voting her heartpump.gif This is Cherry-O,I'm pretty positive she's female but not 100% sure huh.gif I got her back in spring with 3 other orandas. She is such a fighter...she has been through a lot from the first month that I got her breaking down with ich, anchor worms and finrot but has managed to fight them all off biggrin.gif She is now very healthy and very hungry living with her buddies in my 55 gallon tank
~coyote ugly~
Oct 10 - oct 16

Chubbs is the oranda in the shot, and down below you can kinda see my ryukin poking his head in biggrin.gif Ive had chubbs for..... hm.... 5 months now i think, not positive. He sure is a doll, has a great personality. Hes gotten like 4 rocks stuck in his mouth! LOL rofl3.gif Hes a gobber sometimes

Oct 3 - oct 9

Ohh! I'm so happy. laugh.gif This is so cool. I rescued these two exactly one year ago this last week. It's a nice coincidence that their picture is here at the same time. This is Rover and Spot. Rover is in the background with Spot facing the camera. At the time of the picture they were about 3 or 4 inches long including tails. I had just put them in their new ten gallon tank from a five when I took this picture. They were still getting used to the new suroundings. My family said they weren't going to live too long and they didn't need that big of a tank. HA! I found Koko's. They are now in a 40 gallon breeder and about nine inches. They are my favorite ones out of all 11 fish that I have now (don't tell the others wink.gif ) . They also have the cutest personalities.

Sept 26 - oct 2

Gosh, thanks everyone for the compliments. This is Mr. Chubbs. He was a birthday present from my friend. He is about 7 inches long and has a hugh head.LOL He does have really chubby cheeks. I just love heartpump.gif him to death! He was a petsmart fish too. Thanks again for voting for him, Donna

Sept 19 - 25

Wheeee!!! Thanks so much to all of you, it was a tough week to choose, so many lovely goldies! Yes, that's my little fatty la-la! His name is Schlomo, there's another pic of him as my avatar at the moment. I've had Schlomo for about 8 months and he's grown and grown! He was my first show grade broadtail ryunkin, he just stole my heart! Yes, he's really red in colour! I figure it's because of the types of food I feed him (and his mates n girlfriend) they like chowing down on tomato I'm guessing it's all the beta-carotene? Anyhoo, they all get a very mixed diet, large proportion of veges, it's been winter here in Australia so for the last couple of months I've been cutting back on the meat/protein and boosting their gel foods with wheatgerm, now it's spring it's back to yummy earthworms! biggrin.gif
~Tosakin in Oz~
Sept 12 - 18

Thanks ya'll! biggrin.gif These are 2 of my babies, Heffalump and Woozle heartpump.gif . They were my newbies, I got them a little over 2 months ago (but since I added a new calico oranda and a couple of dojos a couple days ago, they are no longer the new kids on the block). They have grown a whole lot since I got them and they are happy fishies. Thanks for the votes on their pic! (they are the most photogenic ones I have so far) Now I have to go tell them they won, but a treat will have to wait for tomorrow cause it's their bedtime!
~fishrpets~
Sept 5 - 11

Thanks guys smile.gif i've never won one of these before! She actually died about 4 days ago.... She developed swim bladder problems, i isolated her and treated her and she came pretty much better again (she wasn't floating anyway!). So i reintroduced her into the main tank (about 2 months later). She was fine for about 1 month and then she decided to pop out some scales and show her dropsy might! I wasn't a very happy chappy. But she never survived, I've only had 1 fish survive dropsy. This was my first normal oranda (i have a red cap oranda as well) but now i'm scared to get any more! But she was very beautiful and full of character. It took me a little while to get the shot, probably 1 in about 20 shots are keepers that i take.

Aug 22 -Aug 28

Morgana came to live with me almost two years ago now. I got her in the fall of 2003, along with her tankmate Merlin. Merlin is more white than Morgana, with just a little red here and there. Morgana suffered an accident several months ago, and she tore one of the lobes from her tail completely off. I wondered if it would grow back, and thankfully it has smile.gif She managed to rip it on a silk plant (which has been removed). Thanks, everyone!

Aug 15th -Aug 21st

wow! im so glad i won, thanks for voting for this picture everyone. Well unfortunately i only have the ranchu left, i lost all the others to dropsy a couple of months left and the hot weather we were having at the time made the situation a whole lot worse.. i was running around sticking ice in the tank and had 2 fans on in my bedroom. Some of you may remembering the topic in the chatterbox about me giving up fishys for a while because it was so hard loosing them 3, espically tango the orange oranda he was such a character and my mums favourite to. Anyway ill tell you a little about them, they all lived in a 40gallon tank with 2 weather loaches and a pleco. They were fed on pro-gold that Nancy kindley sent them cool.gif and loved their peas. The ranchu is now currently in a 10gallon with the loaches and pleco. Thanks again everyone smile.gif r.i.p my fishys.

Thanks for all the compliments and to everyone who voted for him. I found [Bogie ] the panda at my local petsmart. I lucked up one day and got there right when the new shipment came in. I had been looking for a panda for a year. He is my favorite fish. I just love heartpump.gif him. He is a butterfly tail panda moor about 5 inches long . Thanks again, I can't believe I finally won pic of the week. Donna

This is a picture of Pip, my female calico oranda. I have had Pip since January, 2004. She is a sweet fish and one of those big, round orandas that sort of tumbles around in the tank biggrin.gif She is currently sharing a 38 gallon tank with my newest fish, a red and white oranda that I bought when I was in Burlington, Vt. Pip is a real sweetheart and I'm sure she will be thrilled to learn that she is Goldfish of the Week

July 25th -July 31st

Thank you so much!!! Those three are Hubble, the black celestial, Dobby, the red celestial, and Knob, the red and white. Knob is newer - I got him last March. I have had dear Hubble since he was just a tiny slip of a fella - about 1 inch. Sadly, Hubble became very sick about 3 days after that shot was taken. I am fighting for his life right now - see Disease 911.... I am at a loss as to what else to do for him..... cry3.gif I looooove Celestials. I have a calico one on order from various breeders - whoever finds me one first...... They are so cute and the like to tip up and really study the people outside their tank. These three (two now) sit in a tank right beside my sewing center and watch me sew by the hour. They are good company.

July 11th -July 17th

Thanks everyone biggrin.gif That's a pic of my little Ranhu Angus, he's such a great little fish heartpump.gif heartpump.gif Since that pic was taken he lost an eye to a pleco crap.gif , but he's doing just fine, doesn't seem to care at all! laugh.gif Thanks for voting for him!!

July 3rd -July 10th

I've been on vacation and didn't even know my pretty girl won Arwen. She is my only surviving Panda Oranda and is a sweet girl. She loves being in the pond for the summer.

May 20th - June 26th

Thanks guys. This fantail's name is Pumkin. Since he looks like a pumkin. But i've had him for 3 years now, the oldest of golfish in the tank. When i first got him, he was all orange, but slowly turned white and orange. I found that his color is getting lighter. Again, thanks for those who voted.
~Fantail~
May 13th - June 19th

Thanks everyone! I can't believe I won. This is CJ (Colby Jack). He is a comet. I have had him for almost a year now. He was my first goldfish, that I can remember. He started out in a 5 gallon, and I felt bad for him so he went into a 10. I found Kokos, and realized that he was not happy, so I put him in a 55. He soon will be going in a pond where he can grow very big! Thanks again everyone for all the great comments!
~Ruffledmumkin~
May 6th - June 12th

This is Walter, my accidental find. I was in one of the private owned fish stores, buying a fish for my son's birthday, when I spotted him. Evidently the lady that owned him couldn't keep him anymore and brought him into the store only the day before. I just had to have him!!! I think it was his cheeks...they jiggle when he swims. He is really gentle and had already been trained to eat from fingers. He was sold to me as a Black Oranda, but when I got him home, my lights showed him as more brown and next to my black ranchu..he's definately not black but looks more chocolate. I had been on the look out for a Chocolate Oranda, and was lucky since no matter if he was chocolate or black , he was the last addition to my new tank. Thank you so much to everyone who voted for Walter. I guess a treat of frozen blood worms is in order for him. He just wiggles & jiggles all the more for them!!!
~CLWinne~
May 30th - June 5th

Well he is my red and white ryunkin. I still havent named him although ive had him for quite a few months. Any suggestions?? He's not in a pond. Hes currently in my 55 gallon tank. Its pretty heavily planted, and the plants behind him are one of my giant amazon swords.
~BigRedandBlindWillie~
May 23rd - May 29th

wow!! YAY! THANKS GUYS!! This little sweetie is Honey.. my first fish. I had her for just over a year... she was a little runt when i got her and she grew to be just over 2inches Sadly, Honey died two months ago. R.I.P. lovely!

May 16th - May 22ndth

This is such a surprise After seeing the results last night I honestly thought we lost it with pic #5.My daughter and I actually jumped up and down with joy This is my male ryukin Shio Chan, one of the very first fish that I got when I started keeping goldies.I have him for 10 months now and has grown 5" big.He was barely an inch and a half when I got him.He is one healthy fish(he's the only one that hasn't gotten sick) and fathers 2 of my surviving frys This is such an honor and we thank everyone that voted for us
~coyote ugly~
May 9th - May 15th

Thanks guys, this is an honor. Smudge is my favorite little female. She is a darling to have in the tank. I have had her a year now and is about 6 inches. Her black use to be very pronounced, her little face looked like she was eating chocolate cake with no hands. But of course she is losing that color. She is the star of the tank, with her markings and personality demanding attention. I love her dearly and am off to compliment her on her win. Thanks again!!!
~LaurieP~
May 2nd - May 8th

Oh wow this is such a surprize. I thought for sure it was going to be a tie between my Herbert and the other Calico that was posted. Thanks everyone. This is Herbert. He's a 7 inch long Calico from nose to tail and is a delight to own. Herbert was given to me by a co-worker about 6 months ago. Her son couldn't care for him any longer. Can you believe that he lived in a small 2.5 gal tank for most of his life? Well he's now living in a 33gal tank with my other goldies and has fit in quite nicely. Herbert is a major fish food hog, he swims very fast and loves to splash the water up at the top of the tank. Oh... and he's a camera lover too. When I get the digital camera out, Herbert is right there posing. Thanks for voting

Thank you very much for all the praises. Let me introduce “Ah Black” as we would say this with a Cantonese slang. Black fish in the Chinese culture have a very important place; it is supposed to wand off evil. This shot was taken with my experiment of the sequential shots button (please don’t laugh) have always use that on my kids, but first time on the goldfish. Cheers
~jhansolo~
April 18th - April 24th

Yay! Im soo glad i won.. Ive sent many pictures in but this is the first time ive ever won It was very close between the other picture aswel. Anyway this is a picture of my ranchu (no name) and my oranda mix Spot. They live together in a 40gallon tank with 2 other orandas. They are fed progold which Nancy very kindly sends me and they love it. Thank you for voting.

April 11th - April 17th

I would like to thank everyone who voted for this cheeky chappy. Yes Loz and Devs it means a lot to me. I honestly thought he wouldnt win as i couldnt get him to *stay still* and lost quite a bit of his body, but it was his personality i tried to get and i hope i caught it. As some of you will know this is bamboo, who sadly passed away a short while after i took this pic of him begging for food, from a tumour. He was supposed to be a panda but it was just like him to decide he didnt suit black

April 4th - April 10th

Thank you all so much for your votes. I am so proud of my goldie... As you prolly figured out, this is Fred. He is my only goldfish. I "rescued" him from Wal-Mart a year ago this month. I almost killed him by bringing him home in a "goldfish" bowl, but found this site when trying to figure out why he was looking so bad. You guys and gals have helped me save him so many times since. Since then, he has been in a 10 gallon, 25 gallon, and is now in a 55 gallon bow front aquarium. I have two filters, one Penguin Biowheel 330 and one HOTB Penguin Magnum caniter filter. I feed him pro-gold twice a day and change 50% of his water every Friday. He has grown from about 1 1/2 inches long to just over 10 inches long from nose to tip of tail. His body is about the size of a standard computer mouse. My friends are amazed at his size. His is such a cool fish and loves to hang out with us. He splashes me or spits water at me when I feed him. And helps with my 5 month old daughters physical therapy. She doesn't fuss at all as long as she can touch the tank. Fred swims back and forth "touching her hands" while we are doing her therapy. It is like they are talking to each other. Yeah, I know this is prolly more info than you all wanted, but he is so much a part of our family. As for the pic, I took it with a 3.2 megapixel HP digital camera. I have found that if you turn off the flash and use a tripod, you get incredible pics with incredible contrast. Thanks again for voting for Fred!

March 28th - April 3rd

Oh MYYYYYYY!!! I just came online and there she is; my little LIPSTICK has done me proud. *smiles* I am overwhelmed and thanks to everyone who voted, and for the compliments on this photo. Lipstick was..yes sadly I say "was", my first goldfish and she was doing so well, but the group developed white spot, and sadly she was one who didnt respond to the meds. Salt saved the others, this is why I have no faith in meds in the UK anyway!! I dont know if its cheating to post a photo of one who is no longer with us, but I kind of wanted her photo to win in her memory. She was a special one indeed, so friendly and tame, and I still miss her crazy little face. *sighs* Such a proud day for Lipstick, wherever she may be!! THANKS THANKS THANKS for making my day, my year!!! The other photos made it a tough competition, especially when the subject was eyes, and you cant really see her eyes compared to the other photos. So I am pleasantly surprised we won!!! Thanks again lovely peeps. *blows kisses*

March 14th - 20th

Thanks guys Momet and I are honored This is Momet, we called him that because when we first got him he was 1/2 black and we thought he was a moore comet cross. He was only about 2 inches long when we got him 3 years ago and now he is 8 inches from nose to tail and he knows he is beautiful. The only way to get him to stay still for the photo was to feed him, so he is actually munching on pro gold in the photo. Momet and his tank mates would also like to thank everyone here who gives their time and expertise to this site as his owner didn't have a clue about keeping goldfish when he first started 3 years ago. Thank you again for voting for my guy, all the photos this week were super.

March 7th - 13th

YAY!!! Im sooo excited!!!! This is Psa' Ri.....I have had him for about 2 years now.....and he is quite the character When I first bought him, he was totally inactive, and I thought he had ick....so we returned him to the store, missed him so much, and went back the next day and bought him back! Now hes completely white, save his little eyeballs and his tail is growing back quite nicely! thanks for voiting for him!!!!!

Thank you guys for Voting for Mongo My new Lemon Head Ranchu.. I found her at Petsmart in Santa Maria in a tank with Ryukins. I got her after I had lost my beloved junbi. Shes got the personality of junbi but is very independent fish. I got her to eat from my hand after 2 days.... Thanks again for those that Voted for her...shes a cutie

Feb 21th - 27th

Thank you everyone. This is Speckles (speckly man). I picked speckles up from Walmart in Sept. of '03 as a little 2 incher and has now passed the 8" mark. He used to have more black calico to him, but that has been fading lately. I think he looks better without the black personally. He resides in the big 125 gallon tank with the rest of the big kids. Thank you again, all the fish looked good.

Feb 14th - 20th
